This village was laid out on September 14, 1824, in the southeastern part of the township on the land of David and Magdalena Tedrow. In 1884, the population consisted of about one dozen families and contained one general store, a post office, three shoe shops, two smith shops and a tannery.

A few of the farm owners in the vicinity were E. Saylor, D. Trimpey, M. Snyder, J. Hechler, H. F. Clay, R. R. King and J. Boucher.

The first physician to locate in the village was Dr. Harmon D. Moore. Dr. Henry Brubaker began his practice in the area around 1851 and remained for approximately 18 months before returning to his hometown of Berlin, later settling in Somerset.

Through the years the village’s size has remained about the same. Presently (2005) it has about 12 houses and a mini market. The New Lexington Fire Equipment Company is located here and the Gribble Trucking Company is located just outside of the village.
