Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church, Shanksville, was organized by Rev. Philip Sheeder in 1848. This congregation was formerly a part of the Shade church. The first officer’s were:
Jacob Weigle
Henry Doppstadt
John Speicher
Jonathan Woy

The pastors have been:
Rev. Charles Young
Rev. Eli Fare
Rev. Philip Sheeder
Rev. Jesse Winecoff
Rev. A. M. Strauss
Rev. John W. Poffinberger
Rev. J. J. Welch.

The first church was erected in 1852 at a cost of eight hundred dollars. The present edifice, built in 1877, cost seven thousand dollars. The membership of the church is ninety; sabbath school, seventy-four.
