Caleb DEGLER, a son of Herbert B., and his wife, Sula E., nee KLINE, was born
Feb. 14, 1917, at Rehrersburg, and was baptized April 22, 1917.

Arlene
Sarah SHOLLENBERGER, a daughter of William and his wife, Lizzie, nee WAGNER,
was born Jan. 22 1917, in Upper Bern, and was baptized April 29, 1917.

Mabel
Annie MOYER, a daughter of James and his wife, Annie R., nee WERTMAN, was born
March 19, 1917, in Jefferson township, and was baptized May 6, 1917.

William
Madeira BATTEIGER, a son of Rufus L. and his wife, Estella, nee MADERIA, was
born at Coatesville, and was baptized May 13, 1917.

Irene
Leah BROWN, a daughter of Harvey J., and his wife, Emme, nee FIDLER, was born
in Bethel township, and was baptized in Salem church, May 20, 1917.

Luella
Mary FIDLER, a daughter of Harrison and his wife, Maggie, nee ZERBE, was born
Feb. 5, 1916 [date probably ok, see next entry],
in Bethel Twp., and was baptized May 29, 1917.

Isaac
Harvey FIDLER, a son of Harrison and his wife, Maggie, nee ZERBE, was born Dec.
20, 1916, in Bethel Twp., and ws baptized in Salem church, May 20, 1917.

Esther
Catharine STUMP, a daughter of Wm. A. and his wife, Alma K. nee FEICK, was born
April 6, 1917, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized May 26, 1917.

Evelyn
May CARL, a daughter of Jacob N. and his wife, Katie E., nee BOND, was born May

born June 5, 1917, in Strausstown, and was baptized July 28, 1917.

Nora ZELLER, a daughter of Howard A., and his wife, Mamie, nee STRAUSS, was
born March 29, 1917, at Rehrersburg, and was baptized on August 4, 1917.

Dorothy
Adina DELP, a daughter of Elmer H. and his wife, Amy, nee DEGLER, was born June
26, 1917, at Reading, and was baptized Aug. 19 [1917],
in Zion church.

Mark
R. POTTEIGER, a son of Milton S. and his wife, Mary, nee RENTSCHLER, was born
at Strausstown, July 17, 1917, and was baptized on August 24, 1917.

Charles
Jacob SHEETZ, a son of Harry H. and his wife, Laura, nee POTTEIGER, was born
July 6, 1917, at Bernville, and was baptized August 26, 1917.

WEDDINGS

 

On
April 21, 1917, Leonard L. ARMS, of Pottstown, and Lizzie M. DEGLER, of
Strausstown, were married at the parsonage.

Charles
R. KLINE, of Reading, and Verna S. LONG, of Reading, were married on June 9,
1917, at the home of the groom’s mother, Rehrersburg.

Samuel
BERGER and Helen M. UNGER, both of Sstrausstown, were married at the home of
the bride, July 3, 1917.

FUNERALS

 

Jacob
Wallace SEYFERT, son of Jacob and Celesa, nee BOLTZ, was born march 8, 1860, in
Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized April 21, 1860, by Pastor Zehring.  He
was confirmed by Pastor Leinbach, in Zion church, March 21, 1887.  He was
married Dec. 25, 1880, to Cassie REBER by Pastor Leinbach.  He taught school
for 39 years and filled the offices of Justice of the Peace and of Notary
Public for many years. He died on Easter, April 8, 1917, aged 57 years and 1
month.  He is survived by his wife, his mother and a son, Prof. S.S. SEYFERT. 
The funeral took place April 12, in Zion church.  Text, I Cor. 13:8.

Rose
Ellen WAGNER, nee WERTMAN, a daughter of Elias WERTMAN and his wife, Mary, nee
LINGLE, was born on Oct. 6, 1885, in Upper tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized
May 18, 1887, by Pastor Finfrock.  She was confirmed Oct. 6, 1900, by Pastor W.
W. Kramlich in Zion church. On Sept. 4, 1909, she was married to Robert D.
WAGNER by Pastor E. S. Leinbach. She died April 20, 1917, aged 31 years, 6
months and 14 days.  She is survived by her husband, 3 children, mother, 3
brothers, and 4 sisters.  The funeral took place April 24, in Zion church.

James
Albert REBER, son of Solomon G. and his wife, Elizabeth, nee DeTURK, was born
Aug. 15, 1857, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized October, 1857, by
Pastor Zehring.  He was confirmed April 26, 1873, by Pastor Finfrock in the
Zion church.  He was married to Sarah BERTRAM, Nov. 23, 1878, by Pastor
Finfrock.  He died May 2, 1917, aged 59 years, 8 months and 17 days.  He is
survived by his widow, one sister and one brother.  The funeral took place May
8, 1917, in Zion church.  Text, Rev. 2:10.

Sarah
Salome BAUSCHER, nee MILLER, daughter of John B. and his wife Lovina, nee
BOLTZ, was born March 20, 1858, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized
April 24, 1858, by Pastor Zehring.  She was confirmed April 20, 1877, by Pastor
Finfrock.  She was married to Chas. H. BAUSCHER, Nov. 27, 1880, by Pastor
Finfrock.  She died May 10, 1917, aged 59 years, 1 month and 20 days.  She is
survived by her three children, one brother and two sisters.  The funeral took
place May 14, in Zion church.  Text, Heb. 13:14.

Adam
LENGLE, a son of David and his wife, Catharine, nee STAUSS, was born Aug. 3,
1854, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized on Oct. 1, 1854, by Pastor
Dietzler.  He was confirmed March 25, 1871, by Pastor Martz, in Zion church. 
He was married to Emma MOYER in 1875 by Pastor Finfrock.  He was married the
second time to Leanda HAAK by Pastor Finfrock, Sept. 1, 1883.  He died May 11,
1917, aged 62 years, 9 months and 8 days.  He is survived by his widow, 2
children, five brothers, and 2 sisters.  Funeral, may 17, in Salem church.

Marietta
BATZ, nee ULRICH, was born Dec. 31, 1842, and was baptized by Pastor Ulrich. 
She was confirmed May 7, 1859, by Pastor Eggers in the Rehrersburg Lutheran
church.  She was married to John BATZ, Sept. 21, 1862, by Pastor Eggers.  She
deid May 25, 1917, aged 74 years, 4 months, 24 days.  She is survived by her
husband, six children, one sister and 22 grandchildren.  The funeral took place
on May 29, in the Salem church.  Text, Rev. 2:10.

Joshua
L. MOYER, son of John and his wife, Elizabeth, nee LEISS, was bory Sept. 8,
1842, in Marion Twp., and was baptized Nov. 12, 1842, by Pastor Ulrich.  He was
confirmed in Christ, Little Tulpehocken church, [by]
Pastor Eggers.  He was married to Emma Rebecca RICHARDS, Mar. 31, 1866, by
Pastor Eggers.  He died on May 15, 1917, aged 74 years, 8 months and 7 days. 
He is survived by 3 children, and 17 grand children [sp]. 
The funeral took place from his home at Bernville and interment at Womelsdorf,
May 19.  Text, Ps. 73:23-25.

Charles
M. TOBIAS, was born Mar. 31, 1878, in Upper Bern Twp., and was baptized Aug.
18, 1878, by Pastor Trexler.  He was confirmed in Friedens chruch, Nov. 16,
1895, by Pastor Trexler.  He died June 13, 1917, in the Reading hospital, aged
39 years, 2 months and 13 days.  The funeral took place in Friedens church,
June 15.  Text, Heb. 9:27.

Henrietta
GREICHBAUM, daughter of Jacob and his wife, Esther, nee NEY, was born Nov. 27,
1850.  She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in her youth in Zion church. 
She died July 4, 1917, aged 66 years, 7 months and 7 days.  The funeral was
held in Zion church, July 9.  Text, Ps. 90: 12.

Harrison
L. FEICK, was born in Upper Bern Twp., May 8, 1849.  He was baptized in infancy
abnd in his youth was confirmed by Pastor Zweizig in St. Michaels’ church.  He
was married to Mary Ann WAGNER, Nov. 19, 1870, by Pastor Trexler.  He died July
22, 1917, aged 68 years, 2 months and 14 days.  He is survived by 4 sons and 2
daughters.  The funeral took place on July 27, in Friedens church. [no text reference given.]

Kate
Verdilla HIMMELBERGER, a daughter of Adam P. and his wife, Rebecca S., nee
GREIM, was born on May 15, 1872, at strausstown, and was baptized in infancy by
Pastor Schwartz.  She was confirmed at Gernant’s church, by PFastor Zweizig. 
She died Aug. 12, 1915 [date], aged 45 years, 2
months and 7 days.  She is survived by her mother and four brothers.  The
funeral took place in Zion church, Aug. 15.  Text, Job 14: 1-2.

George
Monroe FIDLER, son of Samuel and his wife, Catharine, nee HAYD, was born Nov.
23, 1852, in Marion Twp., and was baptized Aug. 11, 1853, by Pastor Dalen
confirmed May 8, 1869 at Womelsdorf, by Pastor Finfrock.  He was married to
Emma BECHTEL, June 12, 1886, by Pastor Trexler.  He died on Aug. 24, 1917, aged
64 years, 9 months and 1 day.  He is survived by his daughter, one brother and
one sister.  The funeral took place in Trinity church, Sept. 1.  Text, Jas.
1:12.
