Dayton Union Academy
![]()
This school was established in 1852 by the united efforts of
the United Presbyterian and Methodist Episcopal congregation, and was a
non-sectarian institution. The first principal was Rev. John A. Campbell, and
his successors were Rev. David K. Duff, David Love, A.M., D.W. Lawson and
others. For a time the school flourished, but in 1905, because of the state
subsidizing of normal schools, it merged with the Dayton Normal Institute.
If you have any additional information on this church, please
