On the above date, a William Hall sold property he owned to James
Kirkpatrick. It would appear that at the time of the sale William and
Mary Hall lived in Indiana County, PA. In his citizenship documents,
William Hall signed his name with a mark. At the end of the following
document, it appears that he signed his name, but Mary used her mark. He
either learned to write his name or this is another Hall family. No
acquisition deed was found for this property. It may have been recorded
in Indiana County. That county was not searched.
This Indenture made the Twenty Sixth day of April A.D. One thousand
eight-hundred and forty Seven, Between William Hall & Mary his wife
of West Mahoning township Indiana County and State of Pennsylvania of
the One part and James Kirkpatrick of the Other part, Witnesseth That
the Said William Hall and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the
Sum of Three hundred and fifty Dollars lawful money of the United
States, to them in hand paid by the Said James Kirkpatrick at or before
the Ensealing or delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, Sold . . . unto the Said James
Kirkpatrick his heirs and assigns the following described Tract or piece
of land Sittuate in Waine Township Armstrong County and State of
Pennsylvania aforesaid containing fifty acres and forty perches Vis.
Beginning at a White Oak thence North Twenty five East one hundred and
forty perches to a stone heap thence South Sixty five East forty perches
to a post Thence two west One hundred and nine perches to a post thence
west ninety five and three tenths to the place of beginning it Being
part of a Tract of Land conveyed by James Hamilton of ???? to William
Kinon by deed dated the first of September A. D. One thousand eight
hundred and forty Six and by the Said William Kinanan and Nancy his wife
Conveyed to the above named William Hall by deed dated fifteenth of
October One thousand Eight hundred and forty Six . . .

The 1850 census indicates that William Hall owned real estate in
Cowanshannock Township valued at $1600. No deeds nave been found to
prove he had property in this location at that time.
The 1860 census indicates that William Hall had real estate worth
$2500 and personal property worth $1000 and he was still living in
Cowanshannock Township, Armstrong County, PA. No deeds have been found
to prove he had this property in this location at this time.

On the above date, William Hall Sr. and Joshua Hall, his son,
purchased 221.1625 acres of land in Cowanshannock Township, Armstrong
County, PA. from Rev B. B. Killikelly.
This indenture made 1st day of February in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred sixty five Between the Rev Bryan B. Killikelly D.
D. of Pine township in the County of Armstrong . . . and Mary M. his
wife of the first part and William Hall and Joshua Hall (his son) of the
second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and
in consideration of the sum of one thousand seven hundred and seventy
nine 24/100 Dollars lawful money of the United States . . . sold . . .
all that certain piece or parcel of land situated in Cowanshannock
Township . . . beginning at a Maple thence by land formerly of John
Denniston east two hundred and Sixty nine perches to a White oak and
north one hundred and forty four perches and five tenths to a Maple
thence by Land formerly of Samuel Denestin and other Surveyed Lands West
one hundred and sixty eight perches to a post thence by Land of
Archibald Mc ????? south thirty four and a half perches to a post and
West one hundred and one perches to a post and thence by other land
south one hundred and ten perches to the Beginning containing Two
hundred and Twenty one Acres and twenty six perches Strict measure . . .

On this date, William Hall Sr., Joshua Hall and his wife, Sarah, sold
exactly half of the above parcel to William Hall Jr. The purchase
contained 110.58125 acres. See deed recorded 19 June 1866 for
description. On this same date, William Hall Sr. assigned all his
interest in the remaining parcel to his son, Joshua Hall. See Assignment
recorded 11 September 1866.
