Isaac Meier
Isaac Meier, founder of Myerstown in 1768,Lebanon Co.,Pa(his stone iscovered
with a slab of glass in the Tulpehocken Trinity ReformedCemetery, in
Richland, Lebanon Co., Pab- Jan. 4, 1730d-July 15, 1770Isaac Meier
was called out for business to a local Tavern (now known asthe Henry Buch
Haus) on the evening on July 14,1770. He was sitting at awindow and was shot
in the back. He lived long enough to be taken home,where he died at age
40.His killer was never found. Isaac Meier wasmarried in 1754 to Catherine
Herclerode, the daughter of ValentineHelclerode/Herchelroth.Valentine was
one of the six original trustees ofthe Tulpehocken Trinity Reformed
church.The children of Isaac andCatherine Meier were: a daughter, Elizabeth
b- 4-2-1755 ,married JohnReily(Rev. War) on 5-20-1773 in Lancaster co.,Pa;Ă‚Â
a daughter,Anna; adaughter Mary or “Anna Maria” b- 12-28-1758 ,married
William Heister,Catherine b- 5-15-1763 married James wood; a son John b-
2-5-1764married Catherine Hahn ; and a daughter, Eva. The Isaac Meier
familylived a life of elegance as plantation owners.* The Isaac
Meierhomestead, built by Valentine Herchelroth in c 1740-50 ,is
stillstanding in Myerstown. At the intersection of Route 422 and Route
501,proceed south on route 501 for seven and 1/2 blocks. The homestead
isalong the street by the Tulpehocken creek. This house is on the
