St. Peter’s Cemetery was founded shortly after the church was founded by Jesuits from St. Paul’s Mission, Bally, PA in 1752, at 111 Duke Street (now 7th Street). The cemetery continued beside the Church until 1844, when it was moved to Tenth and South Streets in Reading. Otherwise know as Nanny Goat Hill. The land that the Church and the cemetery had been located on was sold in 1845 so that a new Church could be
constructed on South and Fifth Street.
NOTE: The first CASSIDY was buried in this cemetery on 1 Mar 1821; the next was buried in 1877. Most likely, other CASSIDYs were buried in this cemetery between these years and they no longer have grave stones!

Margaret L. Cassidy was the wife of Michael J. Cassidy. Her maiden name was Margaret L. Hart; B: 1855 Delaware; D: 3/1/1921 Reading City PA (I have both his and her last will and testament).

Eva A. Cassidy was Margaret L. Cassidy’s daughter. B: 1/7/1886; D: 6/1966 ( I have her ss application). Eva was actually a twin – I did not know her twin sister’s name until now:

Cassidy Elizabeth 1-6-1920 Reading City (which could be either Elizabeth in the list but the CASSIDY, Elizabeth, 1851 – 6 Feb 1886 is most likely John’s sister.
There is a John Cassidy 24 yo living with an Elizabeth – 20 Engineer in the 1870 census.

time of Marriage which would put him 1877 or 1876. Michael had a last
will and testament filed in Berks County.
