Lowhill Church, 1770

Jan. 27, 1769 - Due to a misunderstanding with the Weissenberg Church the Lowhill people who had worshipped at Weissenberg since 1745, decided to organize a church of their own.

Sept. 3, 1769 - Dedication of the log church erected by the Reformed with Rev. Philip MICHAEL officiating.

1786 - Lowhill parents decide to build a school house better located than the one in Weissenberg.

Under the "Old Oak Tree" the Lowhill congregation held occasional services especially when there churches was in the process of being built.
One of the oldest residents Peter FREY, Sr. related that the tree was in a conspicuous place among trees . It is estimated at being over 200 years old, it stands near Lowhill Church.

1798 - a well built Union Church erected and dedicated by the Rev. J. H. HELFFRICH and Rev. H. J. SCHELLHARDT.

A bequest left by John HOLBEN - interest to be used to pay salaries of pastors.

A bequest by Solomon HEINTZLEMAN to keep his grave and fences of the cemetery in order.
