Chestnut Hill Church, Lower Milford

 Settlements on and around Chestnut Hill which is the divide between the Saucon Creek on the east and the Swamp Creek on the west, began before 1757 , when Andreas ENGELMAN sold an acre of ground to the congregation for 10 shillings.The names recorded on the deed were

1773 - 1787 - first known church record by the first known pastor - Rev. Casper WACK. Also Frederick DILLICKER preached and performed pastorial services. 1811 - the old church still stood  - Pastor Rev. W. DECHANT Feb. 14, 1818 - funeral service of Abraham HENDRICKS. 1820 - old church torn down, and a school house built in which occasional services and funerals were held for upwards of 30 years.

 1850 - John EBERHARD who lived in Chestnut Hill but was a member of Great Swamp Church, organized a Sunday School for Chestnut Hill and acted a superintendent for many years.
