[Centreville Stone Church]

In 1794, the log church had become to small to hold the growing population. Ground donated for the church, burial and school purposes by Mr. Jacob Emerich was then used by both congregations to build a stone church two miles north of the old log church in Williamsburg, now known as Mt. Bethel. Among the first settlers were Mr. John Beck[Peck] who settled about a mile east of the village, Mr. John Weidman and Conrad Keyser.
The earliest tombstone in the old grave yard is dated 1750.
Other inscriptions are, -------- Beck, 1755 - 1824; John Jac. Beck, 1736 - 1819; John George Beck - 1705 - 1775, aged 70 years.

The names of the first pastors are not known.
