CUZSK, JONES, RIPKEY, RIPSKY, ROSLOSNICK, ROSNICK posted by Heather L. Rankin on Tuesday, February 3, 1998

This family has a FEW strange twists. Any help will be appreciated by this entire side of the family. The following information was obtained mostly on census records.
CUZSK, Michael b. 1860 Austria d. aft 1899 Gratztown Village,Westmoreland Co. PA married
RIPKEY RIPSKY (ROSNICK) Elizabeth, b Nov 1862 Austria, They had the following children:
CUZSK, Lizza b. Nov 1896 PA
CUZSK, EMMA b. Jan 1897 Gratztown Village, Sewickley township,Westmoreland Co. PA
CUZSK, Andrew b. Dec 1899 Gratztown, Westmoreland Co. PA
ELIZABETH RIPKEY had been married before to ROSNICK (ROSLOSNICK), Matthew b. Austria d. ca. 1893 PA and had these children:
ROSNICK, Mary b. Feb 1884 Austria
ROSNICK, Michael b. May 1885 Austria
ROSNICK, Joseph b. March 1887 Austria
ROSNICK, John b. July 1890 PA
ROSNICK, Antoino b. May 1894 PA
Here's the story. All of Elizabeth RIPKEY's children went by the last name ROSNICK throughout their lives. NO ONE alive has ever heard of the last name CUZSK. Micheal CUZSK must have married Elizabeth RIPKEY when she was pregnant with Antoino ROSNICK as the 1900 census states that they had been married for 7 years and Antoino was only 6 during this census.
The conclusion we have made is that Micheal CUZSK died shortly afther the birth of their last child, Andrew 1899, and that the older ROSNICK boys raised the family. It is also very probable that Matthew ROSNICK died prior to the birth of his son, Antoino.
Emma CUZSK used the name ROSNICK on all of her documents throughout her life. She worked for a carnival in PA as the woman in the majic box who was cut in half. She married JONES, John Francis(b. 5 Oct 1888, Tiverton RI) in 1916 in West Newton, PA. He also work for the carnival as a boxer and boxed under the name of "Mickie Donahue or Donahoe". I am also interested in any old PA carnival advertising or information.

BEDILLION, WALTZ posted by Jeanie Waltz on Saturday, February 14, 1998

Am trying to locate the names of the parents of Thomas WALTZ who was born in PA in 1844. He is listed in the 1860 Washington Co. census living with a Margaret Waltz and son. He was not her son. So far I have been unable to find him recorded in the 1850 Washington Co. census but according to Beers' bios a Daniel WALTZ who came from a neighboring county, married a Margaret BEDILLION from Fayette Co. and moved to Washington Co. where their 8 children were born and raised. Daniel was a painter and chairmaker. According to later censuses, being a tobacconist seemed to be the family business. Perhaps Thomas is a grandson of Daniels. Since there were a lot of Waltzes living in Westmoreland Co., perhaps Daniel came from this county, too. Any info would be much appreciated..
