BURD, FOLK, FOULK posted by Tracey Fleming Reese on Friday, December 12, 1997

Elizabeth BURD and Henry FOLK are reported to have been born in Westmoreland Co., PA. They were married and had about 10 children, one was Katherine and one Liely (?) and another possibly Jerry FOLK. Elizabeth's father was an Edward BURD and his father a Mathias BURD. Elizabeth BURD FOLK and Henry FOLK died in 1858 in Michigan. I presume they were born between 1790 and 1820 or so. Do you have any record of their birth, marriage, census, children, etc.? They may have moved to Perry Co. from Westmoreland Co. Henry Folk was probably related to a Thomas Folk, Henry probably being Thomas's father or son. Some descendants spell FOLK as FOULK, so that is worth looking into, also. Thank you for your help. I am glad to pay for any document processing or hard copy shipping. Thank you!

GIRON, STAKLEY posted by Gina Kirkland on Tuesday, December 30, 1997

STAKLEY, GIRON Virgil STAKLEY was from the state of Indiana, but lived for a while in Butler, PA and eventually settled in Jeannette, PA in the 1930's. While looking for other surnames in Jeannette's 1920 census, I found 3 households with the STAKLEY surname. One home was GIRON with 2 STAKLEY grandchildren named Louise and Eleanor. The heads of household for these 3 homes were Theodore STAKLEY, 68 yrs., born in Germany, immigrated in 1874, Theodore STAKLEY, Jr., 35 yrs., born in PA, and Elizabeth GIRON, 52, widow, born in Alsace?-Lorraine, immigrated 1889. I find it more than coincidental that my Virgil STAKLEY and these STAKLEY's would settle in Jeannette near the same time. I also wonder if these GIRON's were the same family that operated a photo studio in Jeannette around the same time. Any info is appreciated. :0)
