I am looking for information on the birth of William MCGINNIS, who was we believe born in Westmoreland County, PA. His father was Francis MCGINNIS and his mother's name is unknown. Francis MCGINNIS and his wife emigrated from near Dublin, Ireland to PA about the time of the American Revolutionary War. Francis gave his Oath of Fidelity on Oct 3, 1777 in Westmoreland, PA. William MCGINNIS was born on Dec 5, 1782. He was married while he was living in either Westmoreland County or in Fayette Co. PA. He said that he was born near McKeesport, PA. He and his first wife had 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls. After William came back from the War of 1812 where he was under Commodore Perry and us a United States Marine, he and his 1st wife split up, the sons left with him and headed for the Ohio coal fields where the worked before William started Keel Boating one the Ohio River. He finally stopped in Eastern Kentucky where William remarried. We don't have any idea what became of his first wife and the three daughters. I would like to know the name of his first wife and his three daughters. His sons that went with him to KY were named Francis (after his grandfather) and John MCGINNIS. William may have been born in Washington Township, Westmoreland County, PA. William died on Mar 7, 1854 in Greenup County, KY, of complacations from an illness he contracted during the War of 1812. We have copies of his service records and pension hearing and approval. We would sure love to find his daughter's lines that he left in PA. Thank you for any help you can give me in this matter.
