Jake Altman's Father, Mother and Brother William


    WILLIAM C. ALTMAN, 75, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1964, following a long illness. He was born July 7, 1889 in White Township, Indiana County, a son of Rancis and Anna Mary Mangus Altman.

    He is survived by his wife, Add Weaver Altman and the following sons and daughters: Henry L. Jesse C. and Clair Altman, all of Shelocta, RD 1; Loyd H. Altman, Rural Valley, Clarence E. Altman, South Bend; Jack E. Altman, North Apollo; Mrs. Dale (Florence) Meyer, Shelocta RD and Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Hollis, Apollo RD 3. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters:Hettie E. Dillinger, Mansfield, Ohio; Melissa M. King, Apollo; Arlie A Weaver, Youngwood and Harvey C. Weaver, Tarentum.

    Funeral service was held Saturday in the Clark Funeral Home in Elderton with the Rev. W.E. Shaffer officiating. Interment in the South Bend Cemetery.


    ADDA MAE ALTMAN, 76, Shelocta RD 1, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1964, at her late residence. She was born March 20, 1888 in South Bend Twp, Armstrong County, a daughter of John N. and Anna N, Beighley Weaver. She was the wife of William C. Altman who died Sepember 22, 1964.

    Surviving are six sons and two daughters: Henry L. Jesse C. and Clair Altman, all of Shelocta, RD 1; Loyd H. Altman, Rural Valley, Clarence E. Altman, South Bend; Jack E. Altman, North Apollo; Mrs. Dale (Florence) Meyer, Shelocta RD and Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Hollis, Apollo RD 3. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters:Hettie E. Dillinger, Mansfield, Ohio; Melissa M. King, Apollo; Arlie A Weaver, Youngwood and Harvey C. Weaver, Tarentum.

    WILLIAM CLAIR (MUTT) ALTMAN, 65, Shelocta RD 1, died Sunday, Oct.2, 1983, at the Butler County Memorial Hospital, Butler.

    A son of William Christopher and Adda Mae (Weaver) Altman, he was born Dec. 21, 1917, in South Bend Township, Armstrong County.

    Mr. Altman was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Gastown, and a member of the UMWA Local 6986 of Avonmore. He had been employed for more that 20 years at Elgin's Texaco Station, Elderton, and was later employed as a mechanic for Maysville Coal Co., Shelocta RD 1, for 12 years prior to his retirement in June, 1982.

    Surviving are his wife, Anna Mae Sapp, whom he married on June 4, 1938; two sons: James William, Blairsville RD 2; Jack Clair, Star Route, Apollo; four daughters: Mrs. Anthony (Irene) Angelucci, Bridgeport, Conn; Mrs. Donald (Elizabeth) Miller, Homer City; Mrs. James (Carolyn Kaye) Craig and Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Peterman, both of Shelocta RD 1; 15 grandchildren (three of whom, William and Kandi Altman and Kim Kimmel, all of Shelocta RD1, were raised by their grandfather); four great-grandchildren; four brothers: Jesse Altman, Shelocta RD 1; Clarence (Jake) Altman, Star Route Spring Church (South Bend); Lloyd Altman , Rural Valley RD1; Jack Altman, Ford City RD 1; two sisters; Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Hollis, Star Route, Spring Church, and Mrs. Florence Meyers, Shelocta, RD1.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry.

    Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. this evening and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Frank T. Mihalcik Funeral Home, Indiana, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, with the Rev. Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in the South Bend Cemetery.
