It was her interest in the young members of the Elderton 4-H Club that prompted Mrs. Clarence Altman of South Bend to submit entries in the 1964 Dayton Fair.

"it's the first time I've ever entered anything for judging and I was really amazed to win so many fibbons," notes the affable mother and 4-H Club leader.

The first-time exhibitor walked away with seven first prizes and two second prize ribbons in the canned goods division. The Altman children, Sue, 13, and Donald, 10, came away with a number of ribbons. They are members of the Elderton 4-H Club which their parents assist.
