LEWIS, SCHWARTZ, SWARTZ posted by Joan Beebe Meddaugh on Wednesday, February 12, 2003

Looking for information about Vinta SWARTZ. Her legal name might be spelled as Mouvinta Swartz. She is the daughter of my grandfather David L. SCHWARTZ/SWARTZ of Potter county. She was born Nov. 15th 1878 in Pa but don't know where. when she got married Oct. 23, 1892 in W. Union Steuben Co, NY she didn't list her age or her parents. That I know for sure. I have looked in the census for 1880, 1900 and up ward till 1930. I did find her married again to a Mr. LEWIS and they lived in Elmira, NY She died in Feb. on the 6th, 1966 and is buried in Horseheads, NY. If any of you run across this unusual name please let me know. David's date of birth is between 1848-1851. But listed as 1850 on the stone with a last name spelled Schwartz. But all his children have it spelled Swartz. He is buried in Ulysses and died April 1926 in either Hector or Coutersport. I have done the best I can searching for them. An since I live the the great north west, in particular Portland, Or locating information about David and his first family is not as easy as I wish it were. There is a David out there listed with children Cora V and Harvey but these are not mine. David definitey was born in Pa as was his daughter Mouvinta. If you can help even if it is with just a suggestion please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter. Heck at this point, I will even take words of encouragement.
