WILLIAM R. D. BLACKWOOD

Surgeon, 48th Pennsylvania Infantry. Entered service at Philadelphia, Pa. Born: 12 May 1838, Ireland.

Citation: At Petersburg, Va., 2 April 1865, removed severely wounded officers and soldiers from the field while under a heavy fire from the enemy, exposing himself beyond the call of duty, thus furnishing an example of most distinguished gallantry.

Date of Issue: 21 July 1897

PATRICK MONAGHAN

Corporal, Company F, 48th Pennsylvania Infantry. Entered service at: Minersville, Pa. Birth: Ireland.

Citation: At Petersburg, Va., 17 June 1864, recapture of colors of 7th New York Heavy Artillery

Date of issue: 1 December 1864. 

ROBERT REID

Private, Company G, 48th Pennsylvania Infantry. Entered service at: Pottsville, Pa. Birth: Scotland.

Citation: At Petersburg, Va., 17 June 1864, capture of flag of 44th Tennessee Infantry (C.S.A.).

Date of issue: 1 December 1864.
