BRUBAKER/DOWNS: My maternal grandfather, James William BRUBAKER was born in January of 1876-1880. His father was (?) DOWNS; his mother was (?) BRUBAKER. Both his parents died when he was very young and he was reared by his maternal grandparents, (possibly J. W. and Mandy BRUBAKER). He took their surname, BRUBAKER. It is known that he had at least two aunts who were living in the household. He may have had an uncle who went West(to CA?). By 1900, James William was living in Wise County, VA; he died in 1945 in Raleigh County, WV. He may have lived in Lancaster County, PA or Washington County, MD before going to VA. McConnell,Daniel (born 1710, Dumfriesshire, SCT)came to Lancaster Cty in 1723 with his father, John. He later married either Peggy Kirkpatrick or Mary McCommons and had 7 children: Samuel, David, Hugh, Daniel, Mary, Elizabeth and Martha. The children were all born between about 1759 and 1770. One problem is that LDS claims that Mary McCommons was born about 1759, which is absurd. We have no dates for Peggy Kirkpatrick. Another problem is that the father would be 50-60 when these children were born. Is there a missing generation here? We would appreciate any help on this. Many thanks, Jack and John G. MacConnell
