My mother generally looks up information and forwards this information to me. Recently she sent me a 1790 census of Lancaster County with the name JAMES GWEEN. This has been the only location where this name spelled this way, has been found. I have a gx2 grandmother whose name was SARAH ANNE GWEEN. I believe this JAMES GWEEN is her father. He apparently died sometime ca: 1840's for on 4 Nov. 1845 SARAH ANNE GWEEN married in OH. No where does Ohio have any information on any GWEEN (or variant spelling) ever in their state. I venture to say SARAH and maybe her mother and/or step-father moved from Lancaster to OH. SARAH ANN GWEEN does list PA as her state of birth on her husband's pension, and the census. Any one know of the GWEEN's?

HOOVER My gg-grand father John Hoover was born in Lancaster Co. in 1821. John married Agnes Huber in Logansport, Indiana in 1847. When John died in Huntington, Indiana in 1901 he was survived by a brother Michael in Columbia City, Indiana (Michael was also born and married in Lancaster Co) and Moses Hoover of PA. John stated on a marriage record that his father's name was Michael and his mother's maiden name was Hanraker. In Moses' obituary in 1904 in New Holland it states that his father's name was Isaac. I think the newspaper may have been mistaken. Moses married Margaret Sheaffer. Their grandaughter Grace Roland married a George Basoll. I do not know if there were any children. Michael Hoover Jr. married a Catharine Musselman before going west to Clark Co. Ohio and then to Indiana. Any info on this family would be appreciated.
