I am looking for any information regarding the Grays from Clearfield Co. who lived around Tyler. My grandmother, Mabel Clare Gray (11/21/1902 - 12/27/1992) was born in Tyler. Her mother was Rachel Gray (11/41/1883 - 8/24/1911)is buried in Hewitt Cemetary, Hollywood, Hudson Township. Father is unknown. Rachel's parents were Samuel H. Gray (1851-1915) and Clara (1865-1928), who are buried along with Rachel. Samuel's parents may have been Samuel Gray and Elizabeth McCloskey, but I am uncertain. Patrick Showden was my great grandfather born in Cavin County Ireland and settling in Clearfield County in the middle to late 1800's. Died in 1907. He had 3 children, William Isaac b.10/27/85 d.9/2966 (my grandfather) James G.,b.5/1887 (I have no other information on) and E. Bell b.2/1890 d.1955. My family lived in Karthus, and Pottersdale, and my remaning family's currently resides in LeConts Mills with a Frenchville address. Thanks in advance for any information.

I am the GGgrandson of Frank Hoover. A coal miner from the Clearfield area, he is known to have worked in various mines around the Clearfield/Huntingdon area, to include mines in Broadtop, Houtzdale and snowshoe during the period 1868-1885. He was married to Viktoria Haffley and there were four children: Frank Aloysis, Joseph D., Mary and John. According to family lore, he was killed in a mine accident in/around the Houtzdale area circa 1885. Any information/leads or advice would be eternally appreciated. Have a great week..
