I am interested in information regarding Valentine Hollar, ie., his place of birth as well as his parent's names and where they were born. Valentine Hollar is listed on the DAR Patriot Index. He and Susanna Ott married and had a son Solomon who married Hannah ?. They had a son named Philip V. Hollar who married Melinda Hevner in 1851. Philip and Melinda had a son named Luther Hollar who married Sarah Elizabeth Weicht and they had a son named Philip Lester Hollar who married Lulu Rebecca Hughes in 1907. Their oldest son was named Linwood Philip and I am the daughter of his union with Althea Grace Murphy. I am trying to complete my family tree with hopes of qualifying for the DAR and seem to have reached a dead end as to who Valentine's parents were. Most of the information I have regarding the Hollar family is from the Bedford Historical Society and also the Bedford Court House out of the Orphan Court Docket Records as well as cemetary monuments in the Everett, PA cemetary which seems to repeat some of the information we have in our family Bible. Valentine Hollar b. 1765 d. 7/20/1831 Solomon Hollar b. 1792 d. 4/3/1856 Philip V. Hollar b. 1822 d. 2/16/1888 Luther Hollar b. 10/16/1854 d. 4/15/20 Philip Hollar b. 3/8/86 d. 2/31/20 Linwood Hollar b. 2/17/07 d. 2/15/94 Should you have any information that might be of help to me I would certain appreciate hearing from you.

My ancestor, Levi Mann, is supposed to have been born in PA (somewhere I have the information that it may have been Bedford County) 1797. He settled in Edgar Co. IL, and in the history of that county, there is a Jacob Mann, born 1810, from Redstone PA. Is that in Bedford County, or nearby? I am most anxious to locate parents/siblings of Levi Mann - married Jane Bell, daughter of Benjamin Bell. Can anyone help me? I will gladly share what I have on Levi and his descendants, if any one is interested.

Is there anyone with old maps of Bedford Co. or a book indicating how certain areas were named? I am very interested in how "Twigg Hollow" received it's name and around the period of time it would have been named. "Twigg Hollow" is located along Flintstone Creek between Flintstone, MD and Bean Cove, PA. I am sure it was named for one of the Twiggs from Twiggtown in Alleg. Co. Tracing deeds did not help, therefore, it must have been named prior to the actual deeding of land, perhaps through a land grant. If you a source that might be helpful, please let me know.
