MARY LOUISE BARTHOLOMAI
One of our South Huntingdon blonds! She came bouncing in from Monongahela High in her sophomore year, full of pep and laughter, never worrying about anything. although the school is losing "Mary Lou" she is leaving two brothers and a sister to carry on her work in the under classes...not to mention a certain member of the Junior class who will still remember her.

SAMUEL W. BASHIOUM
Sam never gets to school on time. He believes in never doing today what he can put off until tomorrow. Sam really has ability, but studies as little as possible. However, on the football field his concentration of effort made him a regular fighting center. May the same spirit influence your future attempts in life, Sam.

JOSEPH BLASKO
Joe is usually the last person to arrive anywhere...excepting the goal line of a football field. (We'll not forget the Bell Township game.) He has the reputation for having a monopoly on brains. Perhaps it is because he has remained untouched by feminine influence. He sits quietly back and listens to any explanation and then follows it with a sudden volley of "Whys?"

BERNICE BLUM
"A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent."
Bernice.....our class beauty..blond hair, baby complexion, and dimples; these qualities would make any boy want to be her special friend. There is a rare combination of intelligence, charm and friendliness, all mixed up in Bernice's personality. May success be with her always in the years to come.

MARY ELIZABETH BOVARD
When "Mary Lib" came to south Huntingdon her Junior year, it was to her just coming back home. Mary is interested in almost everything, but particularly in athletics and athletes. She is captain of the Girls' Basketball team, treasurer of the Girls' Athletics Club and a member of The Fort Staff. Not so "speedy" as some--after all it was the tortoise who won the race.

HARRY BUSH
Harry is one of the most silent boosters of South Huntingdon, but a real one at that. When he and his brother came as freshmen we believed them to be twins, but found later that they were not. Although Harry has only played football his Senior year, we have found in him a hidden talent.

JAMES BUSH, JR.
The other of the supposed twins, also decided he might have athletic ability and went out for football...the result was that James was seen in almost every game. James has a special interest in the sophomore class...ah, how valuable that interest is to him.

RAY L. CLUTTER
If there is a group of Seniors in some corner enjoying a joke, ray is there telling it. Nothing ever bothers Ray. He really makes one see how useless it is to worry. big-hearted Ray is everyone's friend. If life is a game of "give and take," Ray is a certain success. He "tips the scales" at......pounds and every ounce of him is good-natured.

STELLA CONSAVITCH
Although quiet, reserved, and studious in school, to many she is a loyal friend and a desirable companion. she has not participated in many school activities, but she has always been a loyal backer and willing to do her bit for S. H. T. H. S. The school will miss Stella and her ever-faithful violin.

CLYDE COUGHANOUR
Clyde enjoys "tototing" on his trumpet and we hope he will just "toot" his way to success. We will remember him as being an ardent member of the orchestra. He hasn't taken any part in athletics but we can always see him as a booster on the sidelines. He is always ready to enjoy a joke and take his part in any fun.

BEATRICE DIEBERT
Our only girl from Jacobs Creek but she is worth that honor, because in "Bee" we find a friend true and faithful. she is just what her name means, "that makes happy." After we have parted, we will miss her hearty laugh and faithful companionship. May "Bee" find success and happiness in her chosen career---
beautician.

HESTER DIEHL
Hester is a pleasant little brunette with dark eyes and winning ways. when she laughs it seems to come straight from the heart. We can always depend on Hester having many friends, both boys and girls, because of her nice personality. She has been a willing worker in all activities and we wish her much success as a business woman.

ANNA DINARDO
Anna holds a place of high esteem among her teachers and classmates. consequently, her accommodating manner will not be soon forgotten. she is a good sport, always ready for fun but willing to be serious when the occasion demands. Anna's hobby being dancing, we hope she will just dance the blues away during her life...

MARGARET L. DORUNDO
with a ready smile and a twinkle of the eye, Margaret always greets you. If you are looking for an optimist let us present Margaret. She is light hearted, cheery, and has a keen sense of humor. Her ambition is to be a nurse, and with her contagious giggle, and unfailing good humor, we are sure that she will succeed.

MARJORIE GRAYCE DOWNEY
Dashing and vivacious---"Marge" is one of the most popular girls in school. Ever present when things are happening. Known to the whole school as an all-around good sport. If you wish to see this diminutive lass in action, just watch her lead cheers for good old South Huntingdon. She has just everything. What would South Huntingdon do without her?

MALVINA FABIAN
"A violet by a messy stone
Half hidden by the eye!
Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining in the sky."
"Molly," seemingly quiet in class, is quite a different type when she is with her own gang of girls. If you ever hear an unusual giggle you know it will be Molly. Here's luck to you Molly!

PHYLLIS MELVA GATH
Vim! Vigor! Vitality! "Phyl" can hold her own in any conversation. Her motto is "tell 'em nothin' and take 'em no place." Not so "tough" as she would have one believe. she has been active in all school affairs. Can we ever forget her for her work in "The Wild Oats Boy" and "Nora, Wake UP"? If you want a good manager for your Girl's Basketball team, call on "Phyl."

FRANK GRIMM, JR.
Although one of the youngest in his class, Frank has proven that age and size are not everything. His restraint foreshadows that dignity that will come with age; his love of teasing shows a sense of humor. In the early morning one may see a certain couple in the auditorium all alone. Frank, do you know who it is?

DANIEL GRUBICH
Dan is another of our football heroes. He was co-captain of the team and made his mark as one of the next guards South Huntingdon has ever had. He has endeared himself to his fellow students, not only on the football field but in his daily life among us. His whole personality speaks of sincerity.

EARL HALL

Who's a jolly good fellow? Earl is! Every Senior appreciates his cheerful grin, pleasantness, and teasing. If Earl manages his business in life as well as he managed our team's basketball equipment, he will be a real success. Earl is as well-liked by the girls as by the boys. Maybe better! Who knows? May there be all goals and no fouls for you, Earl.

THEODORE D. HARSANYI

Tall, dark, and handsome, that's "Ted." But "Ted" has more than looks. His personality would make any girl's heart skip a beat. "Ted" can hold his own in athletics...both football and basketball. He will even be coach if necessary! Ted's manly character and consideration of those about him will get him far on his way to success. Fight Ted till the victory's won!

RAY HIXSON

Our "pick up" Senior. Even though Ray didn't begin school with us as a Freshman, we picked him up on the way. Ray is a friend that is dependable and good natured, and we are very proud to have him graduate in our class. Because of his personality and "Hudson", any girl, or boy would want to be his special friend.

THOMAS W. HOFFMAN

Tom made an efficient football manager, but we know that he is going to make even a better success in life. With his host of friends, his adaptability, and his businesslike ways, he will surely be a success. Thomas has been a ready helper in any of our attempts during our high school career.

HELEN MAE HOLOD

Helen, very congenial and quiet (except when a certain trio get the giggles) she is very studious and ambitious in her studies but excels in Latin. Helen's ambition is to be a school teacher. Classmates can't you just picture Helen being stern? Nevertheless, we all wonder what is in Helen's diary.

EARL W. HORNE

Equals efficiency plus many other desirable qualities. Capable, dependable, practical, and energetic. It would take volumes to relate his varied capacitates. He has been loyal to his school and class. He has been either president or "head man" in almost every organization about school--the "doingest" person we know. Earl has been largely responsible for the success of our first annual, The Fort.

SAM HUGHES

"Here's a sign for those who love me,
And a smile to those who hate;
And, whatever sky's above me,
Here's a heart for every fate."
Sam came to us from brownsville, his Junior year. The fact that other students had two years start on him did not keep him from taking an active part in all school affairs.

JOSEPHINE KELLER

If we depend on hearing, we might never know Josephine was around, so quiet and modest she is. Her usual reserve makes her seem shy, but her smile cannot hide her friendly disposition. Keeping in mind that "still water runs deep," we think it wise to place her on our future surprise list.

ANNA KORICICH

What a smile! do you use Pepsodent or Colgates? From the time Anna came to South Huntingdon in her Junior year until she graduated, she gave the members of our class stiff competition in receiving A's. With her quick friendly ways and her keen appreciation of humor, she has won her share of friends at S.H.T.H.S.

JAMES LAWSON

Not spontaneous combustion but spontaneous answers and cleverness have won a special place for "Jimmy." always a friend in need and much too busy to be attracted by the feminine sex. Jimmy has shown his true value as a worker from the amount he has accomplished as assistant editor of The Fort. Here's luck to Jimmy in his future law cases.

DOROTHY OLIVE LEES

Dan Cupid aimed true when he shot at "Dory." If she has seemed rather nonchalant about things in general this past year, we know that an outside interest requires her attention; but she was "our Dory" for three years. This business of keeping "body and sour" together does take time--particularly when the object of one's affections is from another school.

G. OLIVER MARTIN

A mischievous lad is Oliver. Fond of being "kicked out of class!" A good sport and usually sees the optimistic side of things. Oliver has a deep and from all appearances a lasting, interest in the sophomore Class. We are not surprised to hear Oliver has planned to take another trip...trips seem to be his hobby.

MARYAN MCKETTA

By this expression, "Lend me your mirror," we shall always remember Maryan. We always enjoy watching her eyes twinkle and her curls bob when she is convulsed in one of her spasmodic laughing sprees. She is a good sport and takes life just as it comes. Her chief hobby is dancing. No dance floor is really complete without Maryan there.

EVA MARIE MILLER

As our "prexy" for the past year, Eva has shown her true value. Ever ready in any emergency, she has been largely responsible for the many successful undertakings of the Senior Class. She has gained for herself the friendship of all schoolmates. Our basketball opponents know her too. Have you ever heard, "Watch out, here comes South Huntingdon's center?"

MARY NIGRO

Our "Mary " seems to have everything that goes to make the ideal girl. She has a sweet and winning personality. The sweet music from her accordion becomes all the sweeter when you know the charming brown-eyed lass who plays it. Mary goes her own quiet way, but every student in high school knows and loves her.

JANE PAINTER

Jane is just a little girl. We know in life she will excel. she's kind to all, a lovable lass. Was there ever a test she didn't pass? She studies hard from morn til night. To be a great success is certainly her right.
She'll make a success, have no fears; Look out for her in the coming years.

GOLDYE ROSALYN PETO

"Keep that school girl complexion." If you are in doubt as to "how" and "why", ask Goldye. Maybe it's this, or her expressive face, or just her eagerness to have some fun that has made Goldye so popular. Anyway she is a jolly nice girl, a real blues-chaser. Here's wishing her a merry slide down the banister of life.

JOHN F. PODBESEK

Here is someone to carry responsibility. Although "Pod" is rather quiet and reserved, he makes a true friend after friendship is required. John has been a loyal worker in the class for four years, even though he does like to argue with the girls about almost nothing. John's alertness to all business matters will go far to bring him to the top of the ladder.

WOODROW SHERBONDY

Quiet, slow, but willing to try, that's "Woody". Perhaps there is something back of his steady gaze and someday he may surprise us all. "Woody's" self-consciousness and shyness makes him 'lleery" of the girls. It is a general rule that those who talk the least accomplish the most. may he play his way to success on his violin and guitar.

MARGARET SMITH

Margaret, the good-natured member of our class. Our classmates have learned Margaret will take almost any teasing, and because of this she is well liked by everyone. We don't know why Margaret has taken the "Ag" course her Senior year. Maybe she intends to be a partner in future years. Who knows?

BYRON WESSELY STAHL

"B.W." just won't give up his Ford, because it usually takes him where he wants to go. If he can get Lizzie" wired together and if he doesn't have something else to do, Barney will keep almost any appointment he makes. We have heard that he attends all the games, but keeps hidden from sight amidst his feminine friends.

JOSEPH STANGRY

Follow the hum of some popular song and you are sure to find "slats". He maybe alone or with some certain Senior girl. "Slats" has been one of our football stars during his high school years. If ever you see some tall, dark gentleman "dressed up" on a dance floor you will know it's Joe.

ROSALIA STAWOVY

Rosie is one of our efficient members. We hear little from her, but when she does talk, she says something worthwhile. So shy and quiet that she even seeks low in classes...that's Rosie. We know that she will be more out-spoken in future years. We wish in the future many bright days for her.

OLGA THOMAS

Olga seems to tower above her classmates, not only in height but in cheerfulness. Most anytime you can see her studying French with one of her classmates. You must enjoy it, Olga! Most of us know she likes to play forward, but because of her height, she makes even a better center. We find in her a conscientious worker and booster for South Huntingdon.

ALBERT T. TOMAJKO

"Darling" is Al's middle name, which has sometimes proved a handicap to him in disciplinary problems. Yet on the football field it has made him a confident and dependable player. We hope in life this same quality will take him over the goal line often. Even though Albert did not care for studies, he made a valuable football player for his school.

GEORGE VALLA

Athletically inclined, George wishes there were no such things as studies. He has earned for himself a place in the list of athletic stars graduated from S.H.T.H.S. and we wish to find him on a college gridiron sometime in the future. He is one of the most pleasant boys in the high school, and is well liked by everyone.

J. BERYL VANDYKE

Worry and Beryl are bitter enemies. Now you know why he always has time to be cheerful and to tease. An abundant supply of good humor, sincerity and ambition are his distinguishing characteristics. We all know that in the future Beryl will be a decided success on the farm, because he is so interested in that work.

FRANK VEKKELI

"I thought I would a bachelor stay, But I just can't keep the girls away."
Frank is our athletic hero in both football and basketball. Frank seems rather quiet and inactive while in school but just let him get his hands on that old football or basketball and he will certainly do things then. His opponents and teammates have found in Frank a true friend a nd a real sport.

PAULINE WILLIAMS

Sweet, friendly, dependable, and sincere. Has a sunny disposition. Morning mistsgreen pastures...lowing herds....June lillies. Must have stepped out of a frame of the crinoline days. She has impressed many with her personality. One member of our class has been especially impressed, for a Nash may be seen in front of the Williams' homestead far into "the we small hours."

LUCILLE YUKSICH

Petite Lucille is one of the merriest girls in our class, even though she does not make much noise. She is a good sport and takes life just as it comes. She is a dependable courteous and sincere girl who is well liked by everyone. May your life be one long happy dream, always ending just right.

KATHRYN ZASTAWNIAK

Last but not least comes Kathryn. the girls as well as the boys in our class have found in "Katie" a real companion. She is very well liked by all who know her and is an earnest worker in all her activities. She made a marvelous maid in "Nora, Wake Up." We will always remember Kathryn and her violin.

SUSAN ZUMBRO

Susan is usually a quiet, pleasant friend. but at appropriate times, she can contribute her share of wit and jollity. Even though she has been with us for only two years we have found in her a true friend. Most anytime you can see Susan reading a novel or studying. Keep it up Susan and we know success will be yours.

******************************************************************************************************
JOHN ESTOK

"A portion of the Eternal, which must glow
Through time and chanbge, unquenchably the same"
John will not sit with us on the night of graduation, because he has graduated into the Larger Life. We will always remember that John left us at the "hightide of life" and is one whom neither time nor circumstances can change.
