William H. Brady, 22, enlisted at Philadelphia on August 31, 1861.  The  2d Pennsylvania Cavalry was formed at Camp Patterson, six miles from Philadelphia, and he was assigned to Company B.

He was promoted to Sergeant  May 14, 1864.  Sergeant Brady was wounded in action twice:  On July 10, 1864 a minie ball penetrated his left leg at Charles City Cross Roads, Va.; on May 11, 1864, he was hit in the left arm at the Weldon Railroad.  At the expiration of his term, he was discharged August 31, 1864, from a camp near Petersburgh, Va..

Following the war, William married Catherine Strong; they had three children:  William Thomas Brady, Mary Ann Brady, and Agnes Brady.

William died June 26, 1877; he is buried in his family plot in St. Mark's Church cemetery in Bristol, Pa.
