Earlier he served as a Private in Hubbell'sIndependent Company, of Pa. Drafted Militia Infantry (9-months, 1862-63). The unit was organized at Philadelphia November 14, 1862 and mustered out August15, 1863.

He applied for a pension May 8, 1880, ApplicationNo. 361,716, Certificate No. 341,634.  Died July 1, 1928, Hammond, Ind.
