Note:   Sergeant Brenizer's great-great-great-grandson, David Crouse, provided this additional information: Sergeant Brenizer enlisted on 1 Feb 1864 at Chambersburg, Pa. On 18 June 1864, he received a gunshot in his left shoulder and neck while charging rebel works at Petersburg, Va. He was returned to his unit several months later. On 5 April 1865 he received a saber slash on head and face while making a mounted charge near Amelia Springs, Va. He was mustered out as a 1st Sergeant on 8 July 1865 at Lynchburg, Va. Prior to his duty with the 21st Cavalry, he served in the 101st Pa. Volunteer Infantry, Company K, from 5 Nov 1861 to 3 March 1863. The Sergeant is buried at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee
