JOHNSON, LANDIS posted by Bob Ballantyne on Saturday, July 31, 1999

LANDIS - Looking for Christian LANDIS found in the Upper Leacock, LancCo census of 1850 and 1860 with wife Esther. He apparently befriended my g-gf William Hamer JOHNSON who thereafter named his two sons Christian Johnson and Landis Johnson, the later my gf and for whom I have the middle name Landis. However, I am not a Landis descendent, but I am interested in who this Christian Landis was and what his relationship was to Wm Hamer Johnson. Four Johnsons, including W H, were orphaned at an early age and the family broken up and "farmed out." Robert Landis Ballantyne

BAKER, MCGEE, WICKS posted by Alice Beard on Saturday, July 31, 1999

MCGEE --I am trying to find any descendants of David McGee, Esq. of Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. He built the house that my father grew up in and we are looking for early photographs of that house. The house was built in White Rock, Little Britain Twp., Lancaster Co., PA about 1875. My brother has inherited this house and wants to restore it to it's original state. The house also has a very unique basement foundation, a series of large windows were placed in the foundation wall facing the east. I should say that David McGee sold the house to John G. WICKS, my great grandfather, who then sold it to my grandparents, Harry M. BAKER and Alice C. Wicks Baker. I believe that David McGee was also responsible for other building in the White Rock area.
