WILSON/PATTON/McCAMY James WILSON married 1. daughter of Matthew Patton, 2. Margaret, daughter of John McCamy. According to family legend he was a merchant in Philadelphia before coming to Mecklenburg Co, NC, where he died in 1776. Since both his fathers-in-law left wills in Cumberland (now Franklin) Co, PA, we believe this must be James WILSON's first home. His first marriage probably occurred about 1750, so it appears that James WILSON was living prior to his marraige in LANCASTER Co, PA. I'd give a million dollars (if I had it--how about eternal gratitude instead?) to find out who his mama and daddy were. I have done a lot of research in PA on Wilson and will be happy to share my notes.

HOLL Family and Lititz Moravian Congregation. Does anyone have access to published archives of the Lititz Moravian Church? My GGgrandfather Isaac Holl (born 1803 in Ephrata Twp) was affiliated with that congregation and is buried there. He had 12 children and 2 wives, Margaret Wacclotes and Mary Ann (Marian) Whitecraft. My Greatgrandfather William Henry Holl came to Charleston, SC with his sister Essie who married a man from there. He later died and she returned to PA. Henry stayed. I do not know the names of any of Henry's siblings except Essie. I do know that they owned land along Lititz Creek that was sold prior to 1875 to a mousetrap factory which still exists in that location, but now also makes Have-a-Heart traps. Isaac's parents were John Holl and Catherine Beck. According to my father's recollection, his grandfather (Wm Henry Holl) told him that a number of his brothers changed their name to HULL> I would appreciate any help that I could get with this family.

This is a quote from "The Descendants of John Hottel"-- **Nicholas Saum, accompanied by two brothers, Adam and Frederick, came from the famous Rhine Valley, Germany, which was called the "Blackprest," taking ship Richard and Mary, Capt. James Moon( Correction:Moore per ship list) at Rotterdam, Holland, arriving at Philadelphia, Pa., Sept. 26. 1752. Settling at Lancaster, Pa., later emigrated into Shenandoah Co., Va., and ranked among the outstanding pioneers of that county. Prior to the Revolution, Nicholas Saum was a quartermaster in the army under Gen. Washington. He was married four times. John, Daniel, Christian and Eve were children of his last marriage with Mary Ann Shafer. The village of Saumsville received its name from these early settlers.(End of quote) Nicholas left Lancaster prior to 1760 because he was married in 1760 in Frederick Co., Md. I am looking for any trace of the Saums. I would be especially interested in a marriage of Nicholas in Pa. even if it disproves the known record.
