SNYDER (SCHNEIDER), RETTEW -- Seeking information on SNYDER (various spellings) and RETTEW families. John Frederick SNYDER married Adeline RETTEW in 1838 in Lancaster County. She was born there in 1818; John Frederick's birthplace is unknown to me at this time. He died on the return trip to Iowa and Adeline and children, Harriett, Rebecca, Rachel, Mary, and Daniel Webster (my ancestor), went on to Iowa. Adeline later married J. P. VANDERVORT, a widower, and had other children. She died in 1903 in Putnam County, Missouri. Can share information on children of John Frederick and Adeline but need help on ancestors.

Bentz, Samuel R. Read Eric Bentz' query on the parents of Samuel R. Bentz. I do not know if the following will help but the generation and location of your search seem to match the following: Buried in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church cemetery of Brickerville are the following: George Bentz b.9/11/1808 d.?/? /1890 married to: Amelia Erb daughter of Isaac Erb b. 1/17/1816 d. 7/26/1878 They had 6 children all buried at an early age at the same site. However since my wife (Louise Ielena Bentz) says that those children were siblings of her greatgrandfather (according to her father) at least one Bentz male child must have reached marriage age. If you know the name of the children of Samuel R. we will be able to verify that we have the right line. The name of my wife's grandfather was Frank Bentz, b. 1873, buried on 4/6/1943 in Fairfield Cemetery, Coatesville, Chester Co. PA. If Samuel R. had a child by that name in that year it is quite likely that George Bentz is his father. We could then proceed with a search of the records of the births in Brickerville. Hope this is helps . If it does it will also confirm that I am on the right track for my wife's family tree. Incidently, I could not reach Eric on E-mail address provided. BIRD/BURD Possibly have confirmed place of birth for Elias E. Burd, my G-grandfather as Lancaster, PA (Bart's Township--maybe) We think we have found him listed on 1850 census as nine year old boy, most likely son of the head of household listed, Henry Bird and oldest female listed, Sarah Bird. Trying to find out where and when he died--my guess is Philadelphia; his wife--another Sarah--Sarah (Bain) Burd, is listed as widow on her death certificate dated May 26, 1907 (Philadelphia). Pretty stumped at this juncture and because vital statistics in Philly require date of death for query we're trying other venues. Would appreciate your help with these, or any other Burd/Bird kin. Anything on Sarah Bain Burd Nov. 19,1841- May 26,1907 would be a rare treat!

I am searching for the parents of my Revolutinary War ancestor, Heinrich Schmid(t), who by his sworn court record that was involved in his Revolutinary War pension, was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on December 25, 1741. Heinrich migrated to N.C. in 1769, settling in Surry county in the Moravian community. I believe his wife, Maria Barbara Loesch (1842-1827) was a Moravian. Heinrich anglicized his name to Henry Smith sometime before the War, and migrated to Cabarrus county abt 1790. He may have been a member of the Lutheran church as he is buried at Saint John's Lutheran in Concord, N.C. I would be most gratful for any information that would identify Heinrich's parents.

BOGER HAMILTON I have a Hamilton list of births that passed down through my family. I do not know how this family connect to mine but it is not a direct line. This information is on an old yellowed piece of paper. It is in papers that were in the Boger family of Lebanon Co, PA. Valentin Boger lived in No. Annville Twp, near Union Water Works, Lebanon Co, PA. The Hamilton National Genealogical Society has supplied me with a group sheet that pertains to this family and it shows these children to have been born in Lancaster County, PA. The following is what is written on the paper: William Hamilton born 2 Feb 1801 Mary Hamilton, wife of Wm, b. 2 Mar 1806 "Elizabeth Hamilton Born 12 Abrial in yeare (next line)Sec____(maybe Sechant) __ wife of William Hamilton 1819." The 1819 is below the "yeare." I believe this probably means that Elizabeth was the Second wife of William Hamilton. On the other side of the paper-- Emanual Hamilton 5 Sep 1825 John 9 Mar 1827 Elizabeth 2 Feb 1830 Hanry 6 Nov 1832 William 6 Dec 1834 Lewis 27 Nov 1837 Abraham 21 Jan 1840 Mary 18 May 1842 Addem 8 Dec 1845 Catharinea 25 Jan 1847 Aron 3 Jul 1852 This last entry is in different ink but the same handwriting so it may be that this listing was made between 1847 and 1852. The listing on the other side referring to Elizabeth is also in a different ink than any other on the paper. Also written on the paper is: 1876 6 2 (2 is crossed out and changed to a 1) 1801 2 1 ________ 75 4 So it appear that someone was calculating William's age at death. Is he buried in Lebanon County? What was his connection with the Boger family? The Bogers were PA Dutch. Also written on the paper is 1862 1852 ____ 10 Did Aron die at age 10? I welcome any correspondence on this paper. All dates in this message have been proof-read. Win Wood winwood007@hotmail.com

My sixth Great Grandfater and Grandmother were married in the Hill Lutherian Church in Landcaster Co. in 1758. Their names were liste as Joh. Martin Kuemmerling and Elizabeth Kirstaetter. They do not show up in any of the other church records, and I do not find them again untion 1783 in Virginia. Was there a place that the people of that time were mirgrating? I need to know where their children were born and their oldest was married.
