School Records

Schools that are known to have existed in Eldred Township include:

dot  Caldwell School

Located on what is now Rte 36 between Sigel and Brookville.  It was originally built in 1836.

dot  Gumbert School

Located on the G.A. Park farm near St Dominics Catholic Church.  The building originally was a piece of the Stone School.  It was moved from it's original location.

dot  Hall School

Located on what is now Rte 36 between Sigel and Brookville.  It was originally built in 1836.  The school building was moved to Sigel in the 1950's next to the High School.

dot  Hindman School

Uncertain as to it's location

dot  Kahletown School

Located in Kahletown on the property that the Kahletown Church now stands.   It was originally built in 1837.

dot  Leach School

Uncertain as to it's location

dot  McCutcheon School

Located in the Kahletown community

dot  McGiffin School

Located on the McGiffin farm.  It was also known as the Craft School.   It was closed in 1885 and was replaced by the Oaks School.

dot  Oakdale School

Uncertain as to it's location.

dot  Oaks School

Located at the intersection of the Richardsville and the Old Warren Roads.

dot  Park School

Located on the Park farm on Rt 36.  The building originally was a part of the Hall School, but about 1900 one of the buildings was moved to this location and was named the Park School.

dot  Sigel School

Located in Sigel and included both a grade school and a high school

dot  Stone School

Located in the Kahletown community along the Sigel/Kahletown Road.  The building is currently being utilized as a camp.

dot  Wallace School

Uncertain as to it's location.
