REINARD, REINER, REINERT posted by Janet Norman on Sunday, August 2, 1998

I am looking for information on my great great grandfather, John Reinard, born 1820 and died 1887. He is buried at Center Hill Church Cemetary. There is record of John Reinard buying land in 1854 in Knox; he had two wives: Esther Rinehart and Saloma Reitz. I need to find his parents. I know his father's name was also John Reinard and he was born about 1787. I cannot find where in Pennsylvania they came from, but I have reason to believe the original name was Reiner and they descended from Jacob Reiner in Schuylkill county. I am at my wits end as I have been searching for these two for 10 years. ANY information that may be of help would be greatly appreciated..

A web page has been started to find the Jefferson County descendants of John London of NJ. He died in 1778, he is listed as a blacksmith. He left his wife Elizabeth his personal estate. He named his 4 sons in the will: Edward, John, Joseph and Isaiah. His grave has not been located. The will was written and signed Aug. 20, 1778, the inventory was done Oct. 27, 1778, so he had died between those dates. Will and appraisal are filed at New Jersey State Archives, File No. 10712C. John is in the DAR book, National #281729. Check out the page at: http://members.tripod.com/~plondon/index.html.

EDWARDS, MCQUISTON posted by Eddie Davis on Sunday, August 23, 1998

Seeking parents names and place of birth for Dorothy Elizabeth MCQUISTON and her husband Edward EDWARDS, they may have lived in Jefferson County. Edwards was born in Wales or England and moved to Pennsylvania, where he was a railroad engineer. He died in January of 1883 in a train accident. Dorothy was 7 months pregnant with their child at the time of the accident and she moved to Kansas with her 3 brothers. One brother was Joseph, born 1860 in Pennsylvania. Dorothy was born in PA too (May 1846, died aft. 1900 in AR), as was her and Joseph's parents. I believe that the train accident on January 8th, 1883 in Chester County, Pennsylvania was the one which killed Edward, but I need more proof, such as newspaper accounts. Dorothy gave birth in Kansas to a daughter, May Florence Edwards on 4-4-1883, and May married Calvin Leroy Vaughan and lived in Madison County, Arkansas. Near her was her uncle Joseph and his family. Dorothy lived in Arkansas too and never remarried. I need ANY information on this family. .

MARTIN posted by Diana Ryman on Wednesday, August 26, 1998

Hi! In response to your Jefferson Co. post for MARTIN, am not sure if your William Martin is possibly the grandson of my ancestor William Martin. Mine was born in 1804, married to Francis Sparr in 1828 and he died on 12 Sep 1881. I only know a little about him, but he is a part of the line I entered the DAR upon. My William had a son named Abram S. Martin who lived, at the time of his death, in Canoe Twp., Indiana Co. and I have a copy of an 1906 obit for Abram that lists his children, one of whom is "William, who is employed as a diamond driller in Illinois." Other children that survived him were, Mrs. Hopkins of Mahaffey, Mrs. James Hanna of Flora, PA, John at home with his mother (Mary Amie). Three children preceeded him in death. The obit is very long and filled with lots of info. If this works out for you, e-mail me and I will send it

MARTIN posted by Toni Richard Turk on Thursday, August 27, 1998

William A. K. MARTIN is listed in Patricia Steele's record as being buried in New Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson, PA. His recorded tombstone dates are 1855-1927. A request for a death certificate resulted in a document stating that no death certificate was on file for his death in Jefferson County in 1927. This leads me to assume that his death may have occurred elsewhere. Can anyone help with the precise date and place of his death?.
