Hance Elliot ROBINSON and Susan REED were married 14 Oct 1852 in Jefferson County, PA. Hance was born abt 1834 in Bolivar, Westmoreland Co., PA, the son of John ROBINSON and Rebecca Jane YALTON. Susan was born 23 Jun 1827 in Sprankle Mills, Jefferson Co., PA, the daughter of William REED and Barbara VANLEER. Hance is found on the 1850 census in Clover Twp., and on the 1860 census in Summerville. Susan is found on the 1850 census in Perry Twp., and on the 1860-1910 censuses in Summerville, except for 1870 when she was in Clover Twp. Susan was a Methodist. She died 19 Nov 1916 in Summerville and was buried the next day in the Carrier Cemetery.
Hance Elliot ROBINSON disappeared about 1867-1868 and nothing more was ever heard from or about him by his family. He apprenticed as a shoemaker and is thought to have become a preacher. He and Susan were the parents of eight children, but only three of them survived to have their own families: William Irwin, Mary Arminta, and George G.. The names are had of two other children and these were Milton and Hickox. Hickox lived with the CAYLOR family in Worthville -- he was physically handicapped.
