Biography

Michael Seyler was born in Dauphin Co., PA on the 24th of April 1787. According to Commemorative Biographical Sketch, he was born in 1796. I believe this is an error. At this time I do not know who his parents were. He moved to Centre Co. in his early years living near Salona. Michael married Polly B. McCrea (McCray) on the 13th of October 1814 in Walker Twp., Centre Co., PA.

Polly was born 29 June 1792 and died 23 January 1817 in Salona, Centre Co., PA. She was the mother of two sons, Joseph Lucian, born 31 October 1815, and John Harbison, born 23 January 1817 both being born near Salona.

Michael never married after Polly's death. He followed the trade of tailoring. In 1836, Joseph L. and John H. and their father, moved to Brady Twp., Clearfield Co., PA.

The death of Michael is recorded as 13th of August 1849 and his burial was in the cemetery at Luthersburg.

Briefly, Joseph L. married Susanah Long, born 23 February 1819 and died 1 November 1894. Joseph died 10 January 1893 in Rockton. They are buried in Luthersburg Cemetery. Susanah and Joseph were the parents of twelve children: Joseph L., Mary., Catherine, Julia, Henry Michael, Recissa Josephine, Justus Kiefman, Sarah Marjorie, John, Corina Agnes, Oscar Morton, and Ida Elizabeth.

John Harbison Seyler married Sarah Fisher Kirk. Sarah, daughter of John and Lydia (Fisher) Kirk was born 15 November 1819. She was the grandaughter of William and Hannah (Packer) Fisher. Sarah died 2 April 1908 and John 10 December 1898. They are buried in Luthersburg Cemetery. Sarah and John were the parents of twelve chidlren: James Harbison (moved to IL), Joseph L., Reubin H., Mary A., Ferdinand, Isabella, William Austin, Elizabeth, Jackson "Jack", Lydia Jane, and one unknown son and one unknown daughter who were believed to be twins.
