when i was a boy my great uncle bill WYKOFF and his wife della would tell me stories about the lumber industry in cameron county. he told me about a book that was written about that area and his father was mentioned in the book and there was a picture of him standing in front of a bear trap. at a yard sale i found and bought the book that he mentioned entitled A Story Of The Sinnamahone by George William Huntly jr. i saw the picture but have no way of knowing if that is my great grand father. his name was isaac Wykoff (875,452) .let me know if you have the answer. a copy of this book is in the library in potter county. my aunt della's maiden name was APPLEYARD. there is a tom Appleyard mentioned in this book. i wonder if she was his daughter or brother. aunt della's mother was full blooded indian i am told. below is a list of Wykoffs mentioned int the book. i have spelled their first names as they appear in the book. b v Wykoff/ isaac Wykoff/ jeff Wykoff/ wash Wykoff/ bill Wykoff dau is ursula/bill Wykoff/ william Wykoff. in this book i would guess there are hundreds of other people mentioned by name who worked in the lumber industry. the time frame for this book is 1865-1885
