I am looking for information anyone might have about a George, Samuel and Joshua BALDWIN who owned three original land warrents issued in 1784 in Northumberland County on the Bald Eagle Creek. This was approx. 1000 acres total, on three adjoining pieces of land -(present day Centre/Blair County line on Route 220) The BALDWIN's property bordered property of Mordecai MASSEY which was originally listed in Bedford County so it must have been near the 1784 county line of Bedford and Northumberland. Any information on the BALDWIN family would be appreciated. I am unsure how they were related (father/sons)or(brothers) etc.

Fr. George A Burns Sat Feb 8 18:17:10 1997
BURNS, Thomas born c 1735 Scotland. Came to America c 1755 and came to Franklin County where he had four children: Thomas Jr. John, William and James. Moved to Bedford County with his family c 1770. He established a frontier town about 17 miles west of Fort Bedford along what is now Rt.#30. The town was called BURNS MILLS. Here Thomas and his children operated the Burns Grist Mill, the Burns Black Lion Tavern and Inn, the Burns Distillery, the Burns Tannery, the Burns Post Office, the Burns School, the Burns Saw Mill, and the Burns Iron Ore Mine. On 15 March 1777, a son of Thomas Burns, Major James Burns, left his log house in Burns Mills and enlisted in the Continental Army. He served in Company B, 4th Regiment, 3rd Battalion of the Pennsylvania Line. He fought in the Battle of Brandywine, was with General Washington at Valley Forge, and fought in the Battle of Monmouth. The 4th Regiment was deteched by General Washington to fight Indians on the frontier and Major Burns spent the remainder of the war in that capacity, mostly in Bedford County. Accounts of his activities of this period are to be found in the Annals of Bedford County by A. E. Schell and in Bedford County history books. Descendants of Thomas Burns hold a Burns Family Reunion each year in Bedford the second weekend of August at the Best Western Hotel. A family newsletter, THE BURNS BY-LINE is published twice a year consisting of eight pages, and it is mailed to 500 families who are descendants of Thomas Burns. In 1997 one of his descendants, Reon Glessner Hillegass Jr. served as President of the Sons of the American Revolution. Another descendant, Fr. George Andrew Burns served as Chaplain General of the Sons of the American Revolution. He also served as Chaplain General of the Descendants of Valley Forge. Descendants are urged to make themselves known so they can be added to the mailing list and included in the family activities. Books by Fr. George A. Burns include BURNS FAMILY HISTORY, a hardbound book with biographies and data on 2000 descendants of Thomas Burns. OUR PATRIOT ANCESTORS which is a sofbound book with biographies of 18 soldiers of the American Revolution, all of whom have ties to the BURNS FAMILY. Both of these books are in the Pioneer Historic Library in Bedford, the Pennsylvania State Library in Harrisburg, the DAR Library in Washington, D.C., and the SAR Library in louisville, KY.
