ORR posted by Virginia L. Mayes on Friday, August 29, 1997

ORR, John was born in Armstrong Co., PA on 12 September 1812. According to a Caldwell Co., MO history published in 1886, he was the 2nd of 7 children. In 1825 the family moved to Holmes Co., OH where the children grew to adulthood. In that county on 1 September 1836 he married Sarah Haley. She died in 1854 when her 7th child was a year old. Children: 1. Rebecca 2. Joseph 3. Elenette "Ella" N. 4. Elizabeth 5. Benjamin 6. James Haley 7. John S. His 2nd marriage was to Prudence Crisswell with whom he had a 2n family. John bought a farm in OH and again, when he moved the family to Caldwell Co., MO. He was praised for his farming and handling stock. He died in 1892 in MO. His father was said to be a native of Armstrong County, PA and his name might have been "John" also. There is a headstone in the family plot in Caldwell Co., MO marked "His wife, Bridget". Was this John's mother?

WALKER posted by Penny on Saturday, August 30, 1997

I am looking for info on John WALKER of Armstrong Co . Have seen middle initial listed as L and R. John's wife was Hannah? They were both born in PA. According to census, John's father was born in MD. John born cira 1828/29. Hannah cira 1839. They were in Wyandot Co Ohio in 1857. That is where Frank Warren Walker was born. They also have Ella May cira 1855 and Henry cira 1863. Believe Ella "May" married Riley Kinzy/Kinzie and Henry married Iva/Ivy Kinzy. In 1880 Samuel L White was living with John and Hannah in the household of Henry and Jennie Abnet. Jeanie's parents were Lauren and Phidelia (Burke) Gray. Frank's children were Rufus Augustus, Bidie Alberta, Henry Benjamin, James Harrison, Bessie May, Orphie Dell, and Blanche Ellen. Does any of this sound familiar?

BARR, MCCAMISH posted by Phyllis Roseberry on Thursday, September 18, 1997

MCCAMISH BARR Robert MCCAMISH(born around 1760) came from Franklin County to Buffalo Township,Westmoreland County, now Armstrong County, around 1800. He was the son of "Old" William MCCAMISH from Welsh Run Village in Cumberland County, later Franklin County. Robert married Jane BARR in Armstrong County and they had at least one son William MCCAMISH born 1796. I think they may have had one son named Daniel MCCAMISH in 1802. This Daniel is my ancestor, and I do not know, for sure, if Robert MCCAMISH is his father or not. My ancestor Daniel MCCAMISH married Sarah BARR, who was a niece of Jane BARR. Therefore we have at least two connections to the BARR family, which I believe were neighbors of the MCCAMISH family in Buffalo Township. Any help with this matter will be deeply appreciated for my help must come from Armstrong County. Did Robert MCCAMISH and Jane BARR MCCAMISH have a son Daniel MCCAMISH in 1802?
